The product/ Team: 

We at Team IT-Transport&Connect are responsible for a network management application which acts as a network resource inventory and fulfilment system for Swisscom's latest and most modern transport networks. It is implemented as a cloud-native, microservice-based application running on Kubernetes, based on a third-party framework which we extend and customize using programming languages like Go, Python and Javascript, with interfaces to other internal systems over REST, Kafka and other technologies.

We are an agile team distributed across Europe, consisting of around 10 internal and external employees.

As a part of the team you will: 

  • Develop cloud-native IT applications supporting Swisscom's network
  • Ensure that requirements are implemented in a sustainable, entrepreneurial manner and according to best practices
  • Provide application support to users and other stakeholders
  • Work with high flexibility in a large lean-agile organisation, based on Scrum (SAFe)
  • Collaborate closely with various development teams and suppliers
  • Work as a team player as well as independently

Job requirements

What we expect: 

  • Solid programming experience in an object-oriented programming language, preferably Go or Java 

  • Experience in scripting languages like Python or Javascript

  • Good understanding of microservice-based software design patterns and software development methodologies

  • Familiar with REST APIs and data definition languages (such as YAML, JSON, XML)

  • Experience using Linux (via CLI)

  • Understanding of databases (SQL and non-SQL)

  • Hands-on experience with DevOps tooling and processes (ideally GitLab)

  • Very good written and spoken English

  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes would be an advantage
