The product and team:

You will be part of the Polaris team that creates value by transforming Swisscom raw network data into mobility and network insights at the scale of the country. You blend in with our team of software engineers, data engineers and data scientists, who are passionate about building data and machine learning products. We invent and implement algorithms; we design and build systems while leveraging knowledge from domains like machine learning, graph theory, distributed systems, data mining, privacy engineering, etc.   

As a Big Data DevOps Engineer you will:

  • Oversee smooth operation of data pipelines

  • Fixing pipelines when there are failures

  • Checking the accuracy of data sources and impact on produced datasets and communicating with source teams for changes

  • Constantly improving the pipelines, improving data observability, regular security updates in the codebase, infrastructure stability and performance monitoring.

  • Salary from 2200 to 5500 EUR monthly gross

Job requirements

  • Highly curious and motivated to learn and experiment with new technologies, data and tools 

  • Python or Scala development skills

  • Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms 

  • Knowledge and hands-on experience of CI/CD and bash scripting 

  • Experience in Docker and Kubernetes

  • Collaborating with an international and geographically distributed team, embracing cultural diversity, and engaging with different stakeholders

  • Good English

Nice to have:

  • Experience in building scalable and robust REST APIs

  • Knowledge of Big Data technologies (e.g. Spark, Kafka, etc)

  • Knowledge of relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL) or NoSQL (e.g. MongoDB, Elasticsearch)

  • Knowledge of web front-end development and frameworks or data science

  • Knowledge or interest in computer security

  • Familiarity with Airflow
