The product and team:
Our team focuses on building and optimising a robust data platform to support data-driven decision-making. We emphasize automation, monitoring, and continuous improvement to create a stable, high-performance environment. As part of this role, you will be responsible for designing and maintaining scalable cloud-based infrastructure, ensuring efficient data flows with Airbyte, and collaborating with cloud, DevOps, and data engineering teams.
Additionally, our team supports the Swisscom Data Warehouse (SDW) by ensuring a smooth and reliable platform environment. While not a core responsibility of this role, our work contributes to the overall stability and performance of data operations.
As Cloud Platform Engineer you will:
Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable cloud-based infrastructure
Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to automate deployments and configurations
Build, optimize, and extend Airbyte for data ingestion and integration
Modify and improve Airbyte’s Java-based backend components to enhance performance and functionality
Develop and maintain Java-based custom Airbyte connectors and integrations
Maintain and enhance Kubernetes-based infrastructure to support containerized applications
Deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot services running on Kubernetes
Ensure security, networking, and governance best practices in cloud environments (AWS)
Work closely with an international and geographically distributed team, collaborating with various stakeholders
Develop and maintain applications using Java and Python, integrating them into the platform
Optimize system performance, ensuring high availability and reliability of data pipelines
Deploy and manage Airbyte in AWS, ensuring scalability, security, and cost-effectiveness

Salary from 2400 to 5500 EUR monthly gross
80 EUR monthly cell phone and internet allowance

Job requirements
Strong background in software engineering and cloud platform engineering
Strong experience with Kubernetes
Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab CI) and Infrastructure as Code (AWS CDK, Terraform)
Extensive experience with AWS, including networking, security, and deployment best practices
Proficiency in Java and Python for developing and integrating cloud-native applications
Experience with Airbyte, including modifying and improving its Java-based components
Knowledge of DevOps best practices and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana)
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot production issues effectively
Effective communication skills in English, with experience working in an international team
