The product/ Team: 

We are looking for experienced and curious DevOps/DBA Admin to join our team at Swisscom to provide SRE services to DBs running on AWS. As a DevOps/DBA Admin, you will play a key role in developing automation tools as well as running, supporting, maintaining and providing continuous improvement to the DBs and infrastructure of our AWS cloud platform and GitOps code. You will take responsibility of topics such as System provisioning, Disaster recovery, Backup recovery, System patching and maintenance and Capacity planning to support our business teams to run valuable and reliable applications.


As a DevOps/DBA Admin you will:

  • Oversee the planning and execution of database migrations from on-premises infrastructure to AWS

  • Choose the right compute for the database instances running in AWS cloud

  • Automate repetitive tasks

  • Optimize database structures, queries, and indexing for improved performance on AWS

  • Implement best practices to ensure database security, reliability, and availability in the AWS environment

  • Take an active role in supporting and in finding the root cause of operational/availability issues and prevent recurrences

  • Support team on cost optimization

  • Help and support business teams on AWS infrastructure topics

  • Maintain the automated infrastructure (lifecycle upgrades of databases, EKS Clusters and other infrastructure components).

Job requirements

WHAT WE EXPECT:

  • Experience in database operation, migration and modernization

  • Proven experience in database administration, particularly in migration projects to the cloud

  • Deep understanding of various database technologies and AWS database solutions

  • Familiarity with AWS services and tools pertinent to database management and optimization

  • Good communication and English skills

Nice-to-have:

  • Expertise in GitOps practices, know-how of infrastructure and configuration automation tools

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a detail-oriented mindset to mitigate challenges in migration and maintenance

  • Independent but a team player and ready to take responsibilities.

  • A degree in computer science, information systems, or equivalent technical experience
